Ramadan 1448 Umrah & I'tikaf Guide from Bangladesh (2027): Dates, Season Deadlines and Who Can Register

Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah closes Umrah visa issuance on 9 March 2027, entry on 23 March and departure on 7 April. Checked on 19 October 2026 against the Umm al-Qura calendar, the Ministry's 1448 season calendar and the Authority's own I'tikaf announcements, this guide separates the dates you can plan on from the permit nobody should promise you — the published I'tikaf conditions have been aimed at citizens and residents, not visitors on an Umrah visa.

This guide is for Bangladeshi pilgrims deciding whether to travel for Ramadan 1448 — expected 8 February to 8 March 2027 [1] — whether to chase an I'tikaf place in the Two Holy Mosques, and how to plan a budget without a price list that does not exist. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "Perform Umrah when Ramadan comes, for Umrah in Ramadan is equal to Hajj (in reward)" — or words to that effect [6].

Quick Answer — Checked 19 October 2026: on the Umm al-Qura calendar, 1 Ramadan 1448 is Monday 8 February 2027 and 1 Shawwal is Tuesday 9 March 2027, both subject to the official moon sighting [1][2]. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's 1448 season calendar closes Umrah visa issuance on 1 Shawwal (9 March 2027), the last entry on 15 Shawwal (23 March 2027) and the last departure on 30 Shawwal (7 April 2027) [2]. Official I'tikaf registration is a capacity-limited permit service of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, and its published conditions have been aimed at citizens and residents holding a valid residency permit — not at visitors on an Umrah visa [3][4]. Nothing for 1448 has been announced yet, and nothing about it should be paid for in advance.

1. WHEN IS RAMADAN 1448, AND WHAT ARE THE SEASON DEADLINES? - Start and end: 1 Ramadan 1448 falls on Monday 8 February 2027 on the Umm al-Qura calendar, and 1 Shawwal 1448 is dated Tuesday 9 March 2027 — the Ministry itself uses that date for the end of the Umrah season. Both remain subject to the sighting announcement, so keep a day either way [1][2]. - The last ten nights: they begin with the night of 21 Ramadan, which starts at sunset on Saturday 27 February 2027 on this calendar. If your trip is built around the final Ashra, that sunset — not 1 Ramadan — is the date your flights and hotel nights have to fit [1]. - The visa cut-off is the trap: Umrah visa issuance for the 1448 season ends on 9 March 2027, the day Eid is expected. A decision taken "after Eid" cannot produce a new Umrah visa for this season at all [2]. - The entry cut-off: pilgrims must enter the Kingdom by 23 March 2027, and every Umrah pilgrim must have departed by 7 April 2027 [2]. - The season opened on 31 May 2026, with Makkah entry and Nusuk Umrah permits from 1 June 2026, so the window has been running for months already [2].

2. WHAT IS AN OFFICIAL I'TIKAF PERMIT, AND WHO HAS ACTUALLY BEEN ELIGIBLE? The Authority's e-service takes applications for a permit to stay in the Two Holy Mosques during the last ten days of Ramadan [3][8]. It is not a hotel booking, not a package add-on and not a ticket you can buy: applicants choose the mosque, accept conditions after an awareness brief, and are then reviewed against available capacity [3][4].

The published conditions matter more than the process. When the Authority described the service in 2025, it said permits were for applicants at least 18 years old who were "either citizens or residents in the Kingdom holding a valid residency permit", that permits were free of charge, and that the service was available in Arabic, English and Urdu [4]. The 2026 announcement routed identity through Nafath "for citizens and residents" and did not announce a visitor route [3][5]. Nothing in the two announcements promises a place to someone arriving on an Umrah visa.

For a Bangladeshi household that means planning on the honest assumption: you can pray, perform Tawaf and spend the night in the Haram as a pilgrim, but an official I'tikaf place is a separate, residency-oriented service, and it may simply not be open to you. Check the current conditions on the Authority's portal for 1448 rather than trusting a 2026 precedent, and take any religious question about the validity or scope of your own I'tikaf to a qualified scholar [8].

3. HOW REGISTRATION WORKED IN 1447 — AND WHAT TO WATCH FOR 1448 The dated precedent, not a promise: on 2 Ramadan 1447H (19 February 2026) the Authority announced that registration would open the next day, Friday 3 Ramadan (20 February 2026) at 11:00 a.m. Saudi time. Registration ran through eservices.alharamain.gov.sa by logging in or creating an account, or through Nafath for citizens and residents. Applicants selected the location in either mosque, agreed to the terms, completed the details and submitted; applications were reviewed according to available capacity and successful applicants were told by text message with nomination details. I'tikaf itself ran from 20 Ramadan to the end of the month, with a parallel announcement for the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah [3][5][8].

For 1448 there is no announcement yet as of 19 October 2026, and that is normal rather than a delay: the 1447 notice appeared one day before registration opened, not months ahead. So there is nothing legitimate to "pre-book" in October, and no reason to pay an intermediary to watch the page for you. Watch the Authority's official channels as Ramadan approaches, and read the conditions that season publishes [3][4].

Two permits are easy to confuse. The Nusuk Umrah permit lets you enter Makkah and perform Umrah; the I'tikaf permit is a separate application to stay in the mosque in the last ten days. Neither guarantees the other [2][8].

4. WHAT A RAMADAN UMRAH ACTUALLY COSTS There is no official Ramadan price list, and no authority certifies a package price. We removed the BDT tables this article used to carry because none of them could be checked against a dated, same-basis source, and repeating them would be guessing. What you can plan around instead: - Fixed costs: your own documents and endorsements, flights you can quote for your dates, and every fee a government or carrier publishes for your specific booking. - Floating costs: Makkah and Madinah hotel prices are set by sellers per date, per room and per package. The first twenty nights and the final Ashra are different products at different prices, and only a dated quote tells you which number applies to you. - A labelled baseline, not a Ramadan price: the DIY Umrah guide publishes this site's only dated planning range (BDT 1,16,000–1,32,000 per person, standard 10-day, four-sharing basis, unre-priced since its 14 October 2026 approval) as a non-Ramadan shape. Ramadan quotes sit on top of that shape and have to be re-quoted for your dates. - The three levers that actually move the total: which ten days you travel, how long you stay, and whether you land in Madinah or Jeddah first.

5. SUHOOR, IFTAR AND TAWAF IN THE CROWDS - Agree a family meeting point and a fallback outside the Haram before you separate; the courtyards after Taraweeh are where groups lose each other. - Move Tawaf to after Fajr or after Isha and Taraweeh rather than the middle of a fasting day, and keep the pace you can actually sustain. - For iftar, eat at your hotel or at the mosque services where they are offered, and arrive well before Maghrib if you want a place at the spread. - Carry a digital copy of your passport and visa, save the hotel address in Arabic, and keep the group's phone numbers written down as well as in a phone. - If anyone in the family has a medical condition, the pacing questions belong with their own clinician before the trip, not with a travel article.

6. A ROUTING SHAPE THAT PUTS UMRAH INSIDE RAMADAN If the point is to perform Umrah inside Ramadan without anchoring everything to the last ten nights, one pattern works on most budgets: fly to Madinah in Sha'ban, wait for the month to begin, then travel to Makkah in Ihram and perform Umrah when you arrive. The Ihram for that leg is entered at Dhul Hulayfah before the journey, not in Makkah — our Ihram and Miqat guide covers the route rule in detail.

Two timing checks make or break this plan. First, the Umrah visa must be issued before 9 March 2027 and you must enter the Kingdom by 23 March 2027, so a Sha'ban arrival has to sit inside that window [2]. Second, confirm the Nusuk Umrah permit before you head for the Haram; the visa alone is not the permit [2].

For the Madinah–Makkah leg, the Haramain High-Speed Railway publishes its own timetable and sells through its own portal, with separate accessibility terms for wheelchair users [7]. Check the journey time and the date you actually need on that timetable rather than relying on a remembered figure, and book the leg you can afford to miss if the first choice sells out.

7. BEFORE YOU PAY: THE CHECKLIST - A dated, itemised quote in writing, with inclusions and exclusions named. - The three season dates verified against the current Ministry calendar, not a screenshot [2]. - The Nusuk Umrah permit confirmed for the dates you will actually be in Makkah [2]. - An I'tikaf expectation you can defend: the Authority's conditions, not an agent's promise [3][4]. - Passport validity, visa channel and document checks confirmed in the DIY guide before any non-refundable payment. - Sources on this page checked 19 October 2026. Dates, permits and prices change every season — re-check each source beside each number.

8. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When does Ramadan 1448 start in Saudi Arabia?

Monday 8 February 2027 on the Umm al-Qura calendar, with 1 Shawwal dated 9 March 2027. Both depend on the official moon sighting, so allow a day either way. [1][2]

Can I get an official I'tikaf place while I am in Saudi Arabia on an Umrah visa?

Do not plan on it. The Authority's published conditions for the permit service have been aimed at citizens and residents holding a valid residency permit, and the 1447 announcement did not announce a visitor route. Confirm the 1448 conditions on the Authority's portal, and remember you can still pray in the Haram without a permit. [3][4][8]

When does I'tikaf registration open for 1448?

It has not been announced as of 19 October 2026. In 1447 the notice was published on 2 Ramadan and registration opened the next day at 11:00 a.m., so expect days of notice rather than months. [3]

What is the last date to get an Umrah visa for this season?

Visa issuance ends on 1 Shawwal 1448, 9 March 2027. Entry ends on 15 Shawwal, 23 March 2027, and departure on 30 Shawwal, 7 April 2027. [2]

Do I need a Nusuk permit as well as the visa?

Yes. The visa allows entry; the Nusuk Umrah permit is what allows you to enter Makkah and perform Umrah, and it is separate from any I'tikaf application. [2][8]

Is Ramadan Umrah really equal to Hajj?

The narration in Sahih al-Bukhari reports the Prophet (PBUH) telling an Ansari woman to perform Umrah when Ramadan comes, "for Umrah in Ramadan is equal to Hajj (in reward)" — or words to that effect. It is a reported virtue, not a booking claim, and questions about your own situation belong with a qualified scholar. [6]
